PRESS RELEASE | For Immediate Release

INDIANAPOLIS | LOS ANGELES | 12:01 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021

For over 25 years, Mosaic has been both a cheerleader and active user of all forms of social media. We’ve prided ourselves as early adopters of these new and exciting technologies and have urged our clients to leverage the benefits of these platforms.

However, in light of recent events, the Mosaic Digital Team has re-accessed this arena and has come to the conclusion that further use of these platforms by our clients poses potential adverse threats to their businesses and their brands.

Just over a year ago, social media platforms prohibited the mention of a whistleblower’s name to ensure his/her safety. Since then, we’ve seen the mass silencing of everyone from the President of the United States to ordinary, everyday American citizens. We believe this is a bridge too far in a country where Freedom of Speech is the foundation of our liberties.

Yes. We fully understand these platforms are privately owned and have every right to allow or disallow anyone they choose to use their services. However, when usage is based solely on political ideology and political discourse of specific topics is no longer allowed, that’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back for our team.

In today’s cancel culture, one poorly-worded post can have catastrophic effects, regardless of who posted it. The perfect example is that of L.A. Galaxy forward, Aleksandar Katai who was released from the team due to a social media post authored by his wife in June of 2020.

With that said, we have advised all U.S. clients to immediately discontinue the integration, use, or marketing campaigns on all platforms actively restricting Freedom of Speech effective immediately.

These platforms include, but not limited to:

Facebook Google
Instagram YouTube
Twitter TikTok
Snapchat TicTok

Additionally, we have advised our clients to immediately discontinue the use of these social media platforms as Login Credentials for third party services (i.e. – Login into Grammarly with Facebook, etc.).
